“I know the LORD is blessing me right now! Right now! Right now!” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4TqoAhlU6I
The heavy southern-soul back beat on the song “The LORD is Blessing Me Right Now” pulses like the rhythm of a happy heart, awakening the mind to a brand new day. However the gloom of yet another coastal eddy makes the body linger under soft comforters, tussled over the perfect temp of clingy, broken-in sheets. Pillows plead, “you know you don’t really have anywhere to go today…” and the heart argues back, “Get Up!” “Get UP!” Hopefully, there is more than one hungry artist in this world, this moment, who struggles to continue on what can appear to be a useless, thankless journey. Hold on, hope is on the way.
The realizations of life serve to highlight the emotional strains of devastating losses; one more rejection or missed opportunity. Arguably the same realizations also hold the treasures of promise, fortune and creativity. Really, silver linings exist despite the foggy gloom. There will never be a day when the creative mind is limited in thought, negative or positive. Anyone who has ever turned a phrase or hummed an undiscovered tune must appreciate the reality of Holy Spirit presence in the simplest ideas. Life in the secret places of the human heart never dies; it changes, sometimes fades, grows, but never dies. Creating out of the secret place must become habit and may take a strength that is not common in humanity. True lasting strength is only available to those who accept, then receive the power needed to grow.
In the secret places of life, there is hope. A hope that there is a time and place for what these hands, this mind expresses. A hope of dreams yet to be fulfilled. The hope of something more.
Bid adieu to the boudoir and say so long to the lovely, lofty places only visited in dreams. Rise and shine as the sun is melting the clouds and personal doubt is rolled away. Listen and hear the ringing, rhythmic strain of old spirituals wafting the blessings received every morning. Get up and breathe in refreshment. Be charged and alive!
If there will be a tomorrow, we will work through this day- creating, believing, singing, remembering… the LORD is blessing me right now!
“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
