When I saw the video of Thamsanqa Jantjie, the mentally challenged signer at President Nelson Mandela’s December 10, 2013 memorial, I chuckled hard! It was clear that whatever Mr. Jantjie was dong, it was not real or truly skillful Sign Language. However, Mr. Jantjie accomplished what he set out to do. He accomplished infamy! Deficits and all, he earned international notoriety and got paid; Just like successful reality T. V. frauds. I agree Jantjie’s presentation was a mockery of communication and for that, dark heavy shades. But is makes me wonder how all the other fakers continue to gain from being even more false? Just look carefully around your workplace, the local shopping mall and other commercial businesses. You will find them. Oh, and do not overlook local government. There are people who earn huge amounts of money just showing up and pretending to do their jobs everyday while nothing is actually getting done. Congress comes to mind. The wrong people are unemployed! On point, what we see is simply a sign of the times. Let me explain.
In the Bible, Paul wrote prophetically about the lack of common decency we can see globally today. In 2 Timothy 3:1-9, please read about the time when men will live without concern for others; when people will do anything for money; and the creeps who will roam around, leading other weak people away from Truth. This is that time. What About You, can you tell what is true?
Paul also wrote about the Bereans (Acts 17:11), a community of people who believed in GOD. The Bereans studied the Scriptures to find the truth about things Paul presented to them. Back in the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 18:21-22 we are encouraged to evaluate what we see and hear from others, by paying attention for outcomes. Frauds put out a lot of information – 365 & 24/7. We can either choose to receive the lies or we can look beyond falsehood to find the Truth (John 8: 32) that sets us free. His name is Jesus and once you take a real look at Him, you will see everything else through a stronger, more stable lens. What about you? Are you looking through the lens of real Truth? The sign of our times is we cannot depend on much these days. So I urge you, take a real look at Jesus Christ and find Truth you can set all your times on.
