Gravity check- Stroll back in your mind – recall a small child mimicking your every move. Adorable yes but actually, he or she is collecting. Children build a repertoire of motions and responses to carry through life; A demonstration of their own personal spirt and a well-observed reflection of you!
As young children watch the adults around them they develop a collection of ideas that come to produce the adult that they will become. The more intentional the adults, the stronger the repertoire of a child becomes. Wherever we go, whatever we do we can influence the world around us if we recognize the lasting impact we can have on others.
Chances are, we all start off as children. While many of us struggle to let go of our childhoods, we all begin in the womb and leave this life when our hearts stop beating. The activities we pursue in between birth and death is shaped by the collection, the repertoire of our lives.
Children very often remind us of ourselves or our own youth. That is where we can harken back, to see the repertoires of others. Repertiores of personal spirit we collected and reflect upon in our roles as adults.
Dialing It Down
The Bible provides us a succinct, colorful definition of a child and respecting that definition will enable us to begin to fully appreciate the wonder that is a child. Children, all children are an inheritance from the LORD; a veritable gift from GOD Himself – like arrows, or so we read and can believe as it is written in Psalm 127: 3-5
Psalm 127:3-5
“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”
You have the power to live in a manner that will encourage every child you encounter towards righteousness. Ask yourself, how will my child or the children I am responsible for reflect me in 20 years?
Valuable, Purposeful Adult-Child Interactions
Anyone who has or works with children is uniquely gifted to be a contributor to the information a child receives. It is a conscious choice to base every interaction we have on the knowledge of GOD’s truth, as we have collected that powerful truth along the way. Holy Spirit dwells within us and He is Who we want to encourage our children to embrace. We don’t however want to create a strange god for them to stumble against over as they seek Christ Jesus for themselves.
Whatever Biblical knowledge we hold, we must maintain our roles as the Spiritual catalysts in the lives of those around us. It is so important to read the Bible, study The WORD with others and grow into our best selves. Only Holy Spirit can shape us, from our moments of repentance to being set-apart and consecrated for GOD’s use.
Our own actions of clear communication and consistency are key to our effectual reasonable lives of service on Earth. An adult’s greatest challenge is to live in a way that every child we meet will know we are the people of GOD.
