I am blessed to have strong Gospel music roots.  I so enjoyed when Andre Crouch and Quincy Jones collaborated on the production of “The Color Purple”. Artistic geniuses, they channeled an old spiritual with “Maybe GOD is Trying to Tell You Something”.

I am also blessed by Holy Spirit that difficulties in life prompt me to read.  And so I read …

In 1st Samuel 3, the Bible recalls a restless night long ago. Holy Spirit stirred a young man named Samuel’s heart. When Samuel heard it, he thought his mentor was calling out to him. Then his teacher wisely instructed him to be still and listen , Samuel did so, answering,                                                        “…Speak; for Thy servant heareth.”             (1 Samuel 3:10b)

We live in a noisy, distracting world. I think hearing the precious voice of our Living LORD is more difficult now than ever. It is also desperately needed.

The Bible tells us GOD speaks in a still, small voice (1 Kings 19:12). Interpret how you will but, know GOD speaks however He chooses and when He does, we must choose to listen. Since GOD Almighty is always at work (John 5),  I believe He always has something for us to hear.

There is great profit from doing His work when we are willing to listen for His voice. I have learned that lesson the hard way and now I know I must listen closely.

GRAVITY CHECK: How’s your listening?

“Maybe GOD is Trying to Tell You Something” Excerpts from The Color Purple

“Can’t sleep at night and you wonder why
Maybe God is trying to tell you something
Crying all night long, something’s gone wrong
Maybe God is trying to tell you something”
“If I were you I would say yes,
Speak Lord,  Speak to me “
